Have fun with the ethical dilemma yesterday? Now that you've got an idea of the kind of thinking you'll need to do in this class, let's dive in! Today you'll read an excerpt from Plato's REPUBLIC (Book VII), the Allegory of the Cave (attached below) and discuss, in class, what Plato's explanation of education/enlightenment means. After, you'll write up your explanation of the symbols in the allegory, explaining each step of the process from the Cave (what does the Cave symbolize?) to becoming a Philosopher King. Due Thursday.
