The American Revolution was a direct result of Enlightenment thinking and deeply influenced (perhaps even caused) the French Revolution. The Enlightenment ideas of human rights, scientific advancements, etc. spread across W. Europe. What was so radical about these ideas? What impact did they have upon the power of The Church, Governments, and Society?
Read 6.2 and answer questions:
Turn in at end of class (EOC) Two Ppt lectures on 1) Scientists and great thinkers of the Renaissance through the Enlightenment/Age of Reason and 2) Significant inventions, discoveries, and ideas that altered how and what we think and understand.

Monday was a review day on the prologue, Ch1, and Ch 5.5, with a lecturette on the significance of the Delian League and premise of an Absolute Monarchy (and the "peasant's place" in that political frame).
Tuesday: Take the test on the prologue, Ch 1, and Ch 5.5. Intro to the Age of Enlightenment (aka: Age of Reason) Introduction to your 30 Human Rights We are all beginning this class in very different places, because 1/3 of the class comes from Mr. Long, 1/3 from Mr. Davis, and 1/3 had no World History class at all until now. To get everyone to a place where we are literally and figuratively "on the same page" there will be a quiz first thing on Tuesday covering the Prologue/Intro chapter, Chapter 1, and Chapter 5 section 5 (5.5). You may take your own notes if you wish, but there will be no assignments on this info other than the quiz. I'll lecture a bit on Monday and provide a clearer study guide for the quiz. Tuesday, after the quiz, we will begin with The Enlightenment and go forward, together, from there. Thank you all for your patience and "rolling with the punches" as we make this unexpected transition.
Well.... 2.5 weeks into the semester....none of us expected this, but we're all going to be just fine :)
Today you'll get an overview of this web site, the "first day" documents to read and sign, and sign up for Google Classroom (paperless submission of work-- hard copy is always ok), Turn It In (plagiarism check and peer editing site), and Remind (one-way whole-class text or email reminders).
