1st hour of the block period you will work in groups, by chapter, and write down what "we" took/learned/incorporated from the other cultures we've studied thus far. What democratic ideas or ways of governing did we take from other leaders in other cultures, that we actively use in our democratic society today? Share findings as a class discussion to ensure all students have this info. Lecturette on "The How and Why of Revolutions" (note the plural). We will examine why people overthrow an existing ruler or regime and at what point they are likely to do so (cause and effect). Read the attached article and complete the chart on the recent revolutions across N. Africa and their causes.
