Day Two: Let me get that writing sample....
Persuasive Essay (meaning you have a definitive opinion and make an argument to convince the reader your opinion is the most correct- or "best- view.
You will be given a reading task and asked to respond, in class, to complete the prompt. This shows your ability to write on your own sans time to research, revise, or obtain "help" from others.
The sample will be "graded" by giving each completed response a C grade. To earn an A or B grade students will need to demonstrate proficiency in their ability to write an essay (there is no "preferred" essay format) remain on topic, provide relevant information, and offer insightful commentary.
The sample will not be returned until the end of the year. It is the only essay that will not offer the opportunity to revise.
The prompt will be announced in class. Each class may be assigned a different prompt.
