Go to futureme.org and compose a four paragraph (minimum) letter to the person you'll be in five years. Set the "send to" date for your birthday in 2020. Make sure the email you use is one that will be in use for a long time! Once submitted, go to your email and "verify" the address is active. A window (see pic in this post) will appear confirming your letter is ready to send. Print this verification and put your class heading on the paper. Turn in by Friday. Your letter MUST contain a minimum of the following: Who are you now? Likes/dislikes. favorite classes & why, music you like, food, friends, etc. What are your plans for the next five years? How did it feel to graduate HS? What did you do for your 18th birthday? Where have you traveled? What experiences have you had? Who do you think you'll be in five years? What's changed? Any friends still around from 5 yrs ago? What college or job do you have in your life? What's your relationship status? What are your future self's plans for the NEXT five years? This week we finished Act II of R&J, took a quiz on the act and handed in the study guide questions.
We also handed in the I'm a Believer essay. The first few notes from R&J's theme song in the Zeffirelli film "A Time for Us" are the same as Rue's Whistle in the Hunger Games/MockingJay series:
Also.... Mocking Jay..... Mocking Bird ("It's a sin to kill a mockingbird...they don't hurt anything... all they do is bring beauty to the world.)
So Hunger Games is "The Most Dangerous Game" meets TKAM and R&J! See the R&J tab for more info.
Act I questions due on Friday, Feb 27. Act II due on....TBD We will watch and compare clips from two versions of the play Zeffirelli (1968) Luhrmann (1996) |
