Remember, the Terminology Presentation slides are due. The doc is viewable only at this time. IF your work is late..... TODAY Read both sites regarding the formality of manners in Regency England. Discuss, as a class, the impact of these societal rules and expectations upon the action of the novel. Then, move on to the Discussion Questions regarding Austen's social commentary. What issues did she have with "Da Rules"? Where did she view them as ridiculous? Where in place for a good reason? On Friday we will also discuss "sense" (good sense) and "sensibility" (proper emotions or compassion or moral uprightness). Finally, there are two projects for the novel. The CD project is a fun way to do a character analysis and show the progression of a character's personality as they grow and change in the novel. The second, is an analysis of ONE of Austen's satirical themes and the mechanics of HOW she communicates her social criticism in the novel. Comments are closed.
