Intro to Old English (OE) and the Anglo Saxon Era, including several introductory videos (see unit page).
Read the "Beat Sheet" on the Beowulf lit page. Demonstrate you understand the "rules" by choosing a novel, tv show, or film and writing up how it follows the "beats" according to "the rules".
What are the goals of public education? Of a classic academic education? What is school "supposed" to teach to achieve these goals?
In the anti-school video, does the young man have some valid points? Where is he correct that certain information should be taught? WHO and WHERE should this info be taught? In school? By parents? Elsewhere?
How would these subjects be put into the school curriculum? Would we make the school day longer to make time? The school YEAR longer? OR would we drop other topics from the current curriculum? What would you suggest?
